Respect for All Message
 
Dear Families, 
 
Please join us in our citywide commitment to foster kindness and respect in our schools.
 
As parents and caregivers, we all know that teaching children to respect others is a shared responsibility. It is important that we as New Yorkers lead the way in demonstrating compassion for one another, respecting diversity, and preventing bullying. Here are a few ways you can help support a safe and supportive school environment for all students. 
  1. Reinforce the “Respect for All” message that your children will hear in school: all students must be treated with respect – and bullying and harassment have no place in our community. 
  2. Request help or make a report if a child has been bullied or discriminated against: 
  3. a Tell any school staff member and they will connect you to support. b Visit nycenet.edu/BullyingReporting, email [email protected], or call 718-935-2288. c If the issue involves sexual or gender-based harassment, contact the Title IX Coordinator at 718-935-4987 or [email protected]. 
  4. Learn about our policies and resources to keep our children safe that teachers, parent coordinators, and school staff are trained in at schools.nyc.gov/RespectForAll. 
  5. Send general questions to your school’s principal or your school’s Respect for All Liaison.
    1. To find the name of your school’s Respect for All Liaison, as well as the name of your school’s Sexual Harassment Prevention Liaison: 
        • Visit schoolsearch.schools.nyc, enter and select your school’s name, and scroll down and open the “School Contacts and Information” section. 
        • Their names are on posters displayed around your school as well. 
    2. In addition, please ask them for a Respect for All “wallet card”, or printed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), which is also directly available to you online at schools.nyc.gov/RespectForAll. These resources provide information on how to report incidents, the investigation process, and interventions to prevent and address student-to-student sexual harassment and student-to-student gender-based harassment, bullying, intimidation, and/or discrimination.
